Expect more music, cinema, stand-up, panel discussions and art because the North To Shore Festival that happened this year for the first time in Asbury Park, Newark and Atlantic City was successful enough for a return engagement. June 10-16 in Asbury, June 17-23 in A.C. and June 24-30 in Newark are the 2024 dates.

Monmouth University in West Long Branch announced recently it would build a building to house its Springsteen Archives. The plan for the $45 million structure—not due until 2026—is to erect a 30,000-square foot space containing a 230-seat concert room, artifact exhibits, workshops, symposia, film screenings and lectures.

SUSS, Seawind Of Battery, Kendraplex, DJ Stepdad and The Royal Arctic Institute will share the White Eagle Hall stage 337 Newark Avenue, in Jersey City, for one night only on November 16 for the first annual Ambient Country Fall Festival.

The Isley Brothers are one of New Jersey’s great treasures. They even named their own record label T-Neck after the town (Teaneck) in Bergen County where they settled after coming here from Ohio. Rudolph Isley—who died Wednesday at age 84—was an original founding member but quit the group in 1990 to become a Christian minister. He co-wrote such celebrated Isley hits as “Shout,” “It’s Your Thing,” “That Lady” and “Fight The Power.”

Gritty New York City Guitarist-Singer-Songwriter Steve Conte roared out of Monmouth County as a kid with one thing on his mind: to rock and roll bigtime, and that he did with the New York Dolls and Finnish rocker Michael Monroe. His new album on Stevie Van Zandt’s Wicked Cool label isn’t due until next year but “Girl With No Name” has been released.

December 1-10 are the dates for the Asbury Park Theater Company’s production of ‘Always…Patsy Cline.’ Mandy Barnett made the role famous when she portrayed the tragic Patsy Cline—who died at 30 in a plane crash—at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, home of the original Grand Ole Opry. Carter Calvert portrays the late singer now. Sally Struthers will play Patsy’s friend Louise Seger.

This one’s special. It’s called “An Evening With Robin Taylor Zander and Jack Douglas.” Live music will be provided by Zander’s band featuring selections of his Confidential Records ‘The Distance’ debut. This young musician—son of Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander—has been called “Cheap Trick’s secret weapon.” He’s subbed for every member of that iconic band on tour and plays guitar, bass, drums and keyboards.

The Bookends bookstore in Ridgewood will host the drummer of The Doors, John Densmore, 78, at 6:00 p.m. on November 8. His 2013 book—’Doors Unhinged: Jim Morrison’s Legacy Goes On Trial’—will be re-released the day before the event.

Due in the spring of 2024, the New Jersey Hall of Fame Entertainment & Learning Center at American Dream on Route 3 in East Rutherford will be open for business.

“Brooklyn Can Wait” says the multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from Asbury Park, Jake Thistle. He’s busking on the streets of New York City in the clip. On tour, he’ll be singing on proper stages. “I’m really excited to explore some new sounds with this single,” he says. “It was so much fun to put together, and the video is certainly on a bigger scale than the ones we’ve done before.

It’s been awhile since we’ve had anything new from Bruce Springsteen’s terrific radio show, “From My Home To Yours,” heard on satellite radio’s SiriusXM. Now that he’s off the road, though, he’s put together some tunes in his role as disc jockey that demand to be heard. This new installment will be broadcast Monday, October 9 at 10:00 a.m., be repeated, and then be available on-demand.

The 12th annual Ragas Live Festival starts at 8:00 p.m. Saturday October 14 and runs for an incredible 24 straight hours to Sunday October 15 at 8:00 p.m. at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn. Morristown musician Samarth Nagarkar will perform. He specializes in Hindustani classical.

Jeff Tweedy—of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo—has a new book out, ‘World Within a Song.’ He will appear in Jersey City at White Eagle Hall November 7 at 8:00 to read passages from the book, answer questions, and play some music.

Legendary Jersey City guitarist Al Di Meola, 69, suffered a heart attack onstage last Wednesday in Bucharest, Romania. He was rushed to the Bagdasar-Arseni hospital’s emergency ward where he was treated for a “segment elevation myocardial infarction or STEMI,” according to Associated Press. He is now in stable condition and sent out his own missive thanking fans for the concern.

As Bruce Springsteen, 74, deals with his recent diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease, he has been advised by his doctors “out of an abundance of caution,” to not perform again until 2024.

On October 24, White Eagle Hall in Jersey City will host Thurston Moore of ‘Sonic Youth’ reading from his new book Sonic Life, after which he will field questions and play some music.
