Respect For Jon Bon
Jon Bon Jovi, originally from Perth Amboy in Middlesex County, used to flip hamburgers at Burger King to make some pocket money as a kid while not working on his music. But how many people know that today, Bon Jovi and wife Dorothea operate three non-profit restaurants with no prices on the menu. The JBJ Soul Kitchen Community Restaurants features a pay-what-you-can premise that has been helping people in Red Bank, Toms River and Newark for years. It is suggested that those who can afford it, pay a $12 donation. For this, they’ll get a three-course, locally sourced meal, and if they want to “pay it forward” by making an additional donation so others can eat for free, that’s accepted as well. Plus, those who want to help but cannot do so financially, can volunteer their time.
