Meet… The Break Plans

They come out of Freehold all bouncy and energetic like toy soldiers wound too tight. Yet listen closely and you’ll ferret out nuggets of wisdom within their lyrics. (They like to call themselves “poptimistic.”) Mistakes are a Friend of Mine is the debut EP. Opener “Better Off” is their anthem. They duet with country singer Jessica Rose on “All Torn Apart.” On “Not What I Want,” they embrace the duality of needing to move on yet admitting the past has them tightly wrapped. “Is This Love” is for those who are blessed enough to even ask that question of themselves. “Happy Again” is to rebound after heartbreak. The closing cover, “You Found Me,” is a reworking of the 2008 hit single from Colorado’s The Fray. All of these poignant emotions and reflective observations are set to music one can jump up and down to.

Singer Colton Braun, guitarist Mikey Strawz and drummer Dan Carr point to Coldplay and U2 as influences.  Half a million streams in, with their single “Fashionably Late” ascending to the Top 40 of iHeart’s and Mediabase’s Adult Contemporary Charts for 12 straight weeks, they already serve as brand ambassadors for Slate Digital’s wireless mic series and are currently signed with MGM Distribution and Sentric Music Group.  Their future looks bright.
