BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND, “BADLANDS”

Madison Square Garden hosted many a great performance on this night from many a great star but none as captivating and incendiary as this band on this song. Sony Music Entertainment’s Premium Concert Division, has now, 42 years later, released, for the first time, “The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts.”

ROAM,
“HEAVEN OR HELL”

This Burlington rapper has a rosy future ahead of him if this clip is any indication. Influenced by Li’l Wayne, Drake, the late XXXTentacion and even Ed Sheeran, Roam says, “as for my style, I’m just doing me, blending things that I like with things that I know work well, to make the sound I have for my music unique and different but still familiar.” His one show so far was at the IAO Studios competition in Lindenwold where he walked off with the $1,000 Grand Prize.

NUCLEAR ASSAULT,
“SOMETHING WICKED”

After being in two of the best Jersey club bands (Prophet and TT Quick), uber-talented lead guitarist Dave DePietro (see this month’s “Up Close”) was in Nuclear Assault from ’92 to ’95. His free-wheeling style has influenced his two good friends/fellow Jersey-Boy guitarists Kenny Dubman and Zakk Wylde.

OZZY OSBOURNE,
“NO MORE TEARS”

No Ozzy isn’t from Jersey but Dave DePietro says lead guitarist Zakk Wylde—born in Bayonne and raised down the shore in Jackson Township—takes one of the greatest electric guitar solos of all-time in this clip. What do you think?

CASSIUS KING,
“CLEOPATRA’S NEEDLE”

With Singer Jason McMaster, Guitarist Dan Lorenzo, Bassist Jimmy Schulman and drummer Ron Lipnicki, from the 2020 album Field Trip, by Cassius King (with residents of Clifton and Ramsey), this Lorenzo/McMaster composition combines brutality with thought-provoking lyrical content.

He’ll be appearing Dec. 17 at Station Bar & Bites (7:00 p.m.) in Harrison, Dec. 18 at the Black Horse Tavern (6:00 p.m.) in Mendham, Dec. 22 at The Taphouse (6:30 p.m.) in Wayne and Dec. 26 at TGI Friday’s (1:00 p.m.) in Princeton.

ATOOSA GREY,
"STORMS"

Longtime Wayne resident Atoosa Grey (now living in Brooklyn) went to school in Montclair. We are pleased and proud to post this talented singer-songwriter’s first video.
