Not many metal bands have ever come out of Old Bridge Township in Middlesex County, but thrash titans Overkill have not only persevered for 23 years but prospered. On August 6, outside the Metallica concert in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, vocalist Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth, bassist DD Verni, guitarists Dave Linsk/Derek Taylor and drummer Jason Bittner headbanged away while hundreds stood and soaked up the 11-song set which ended with a Sub Humans cover. It’s not the first time a veteran metal act performed in the Metlife parking lot. Prong—who started in 1986 New York City—also played for the people recently.

Longtime Jersey rock photographer Frank White was there and filed a report for www.goldminemag.com, including the following set list:  1) “Scorched,” 2) “Bring Me The Night,” 3) “Electric Rattlesnake,” 4) “Hello From The Gutter,” 5) “Power Surge,” 6) “Wicked Place,” 7) “The Surgeon,” 8) “Iron Bound,” 9) “Elimination,” 10) “Rotten To The Core,” 11) “Fuck You.”
