Bassist Spaz Garcia, Guitarist Stretch Oltmanns, Keyboardist Mongo Spiro and Drummer Biff Yocum are The Nerds, a cover-band at it since ’85. Mongo’s the new guy, having joined in ’95. They used to play TV show themes but now anything is possible. From Prince, Poison and Neil Diamond to Hootie & The Blowfish, Queen and Jim Croce, they’ll even start playing Bon Jovi’s “Living On A Prayer” and halfway through, stop and go into Blue Oyster Cult, Tom Petty or Guns N’Roses. For the record, they also do The Killers, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Run DMC, Hall & Oates, Goo Goo Dolls, Toto, Bowie, John Denver and Kenny Loggins. This is one fun band. JO & The Highland Express open.
