New York pianist Larry Fuller will lead his trio with bassist JJ Shakur and drummer George Fludas Oct. 27 at Hillman Performance Hall in Princeton. They swing hard. Real hard. Raised in Ohio, Fuller has been a pro since 11. He tickled the ivories behind Seattle vocalist Ernestine Anderson from ’88 to ’93. After working with drummer Jeff Hamilton for six years, he joined the trio of the legendary Ray Brown in 2000 after the late bassist left Dizzy Gillespie and Oscar Peterson. Fuller was Brown’s last piano man. From ’05 to ’13, he was part of John Pizzarelli’s quartet before going solo. He’s the real deal.
